Navigating dental insurance can be tricky, but NCD offers a variety of plans tailored to meet different needs and budgets. Whether you need just the basics or comprehensive coverage including implants and dentures, there’s likely a perfect NCD plan for you. Let’s break down the Core, Elite, and Smile options to help you find the best match for your dental care needs.
Core Plans: Value, Essentials, and Complete
The Core plans are built to offer substantial coverage, ideal for those who anticipate needing significant dental work or who simply want the reassurance of comprehensive care.
Value Plan
This plan focuses on preventive and basic dental care, making it a great choice for routine maintenance.
Essentials Plan
Steps up a bit from the Value Plan, it includes all the basics plus a bit more coverage for major services
Complete Plan
Best for:Â Those who need frequent dental services, implants, or dentures will find the Complete Plan especially beneficial.
Coverage Details:
Annual Maximum:Â Up to $10,000, including $3,000 for implants.
Preventive Services:Â 100% coverage for up to three cleanings and exams each year.
Basic Services:Â Coverage starts at 65% and increases to 90% by the third year.
Major Services:Â Starting at 10% coverage and increasing to 60% by Year 3.
Deductibles:Â A one-time lifetime deductible of $100, with no annual deductible thereafter.
Exclusions
Cosmetic procedures like teeth whitening and orthodontics, as well as services considered unnecessary or experimental, are not covered.
Elite Plans: Elite 1500, 3000, and 5000
For those who want more flexibility and higher coverage limits, the Elite plans offer great options without going all-in on the most extensive services.
Elite 1500Â Plan
Offers solid coverage for both preventive and basic dental care.
Elite 3000 Plan
Best for:Â A good middle option for those who need more than the basic plan but not the full extent of the Complete Plan.
Coverage Details:
Annual Maximum:Â $3,000
Preventive Services:Â 100% covered in-network
Basic Services:Â 80% coverage
Major Services:Â 50% coverage starting in Year 2
Elite 5000 Plan
While it offers the highest maximums, if major services like implants and dentures are needed, the Complete Plan might still be a better fit due to more comprehensive coverage.
Smile Plans: Smile 1000 and Smile 2500
Smile plans are designed to be economical, providing essential dental coverage at a lower cost, ideal for those watching their budget but still valuing quality care
Smile 1000 Plan
Focuses on preventive care and includes some basic services.
Smile 2500 Plan
Best for:Â Those who need affordable dental care and are okay with staying within the network.
Coverage Details:
Annual Maximum:Â $2,500 in-network ($2,000 out-of-network)
Preventive Services:Â Cost-effective cleanings, X-rays, and exams
Basic & Major Services:Â Coverage for fillings, extractions, and dentures with varying copayments.
How to Choose the Right Plan
When selecting a dental plan, consider:
Your Dental Needs:Â How often do you visit the dentist? Do you anticipate needing major dental work?
Your Budget:Â How much are you willing to spend on premiums?
Network Preference:Â Do you prefer to choose your dentist or are you flexible with providers?
